Happy Easter!

I spent a wonderful day with my extended family. We ate, laughed a lot, and ate some more. As you can see from the pictures, it was also fun spending the afternoon with my adorable little cousins.

Later in the evening I started thinking about the upcoming 10K Memorial Day Race. I really want a PR this year and I think I can do it. Last year I finished in 53 minutes, 5 seconds. I took out my running schedule from last year and I noticed that I am already three days behind. It looks like I will be back on the roads and trails again this week.

One step at a time, right?

Spring is on its way!

I caught a glimpse of spring this week. The weather was sunny and a little warmer than usual. It will not be long before the daffodils pop out of the ground and then I will back on the trails again.

I can already imagine it. I will drive home, change into my "spring time" running gear (no layers!), run like the wind, enjoy each step along the way and "practice" my new running form. At the end of the day my ChiRunning book will be placed on my nightstand with the bookmarker moving a little further along each night. My refrigerator will be full of fresh veggies and fruit which I will love to eat and my triscuit, cheese, and doughnut enemies will stop tempting me. I can see it all so clearly! (It's all about the positive visualization for now.) :)

Happy Birthday Dianna!

Slipping Further Behind

Today I withdrew from my History of China class. I love my job teaching in the 4th grade, but at the end of the day I am exhausted and I have no energy for "extra" work (beyond preparing lessons for the next day and correcting papers). Even though my decision might result in me graduating a semester later than I expected, I still believe I made the right decision.

As far as the running world goes––(sigh). I am slipping further behind which of course means my times are only getting slower as my distances are getting shorter. It is hard to believe that I had a better running pattern on vacation compared to this past week. As a result, I won’t be running in the 10 mile Merrimack River Trail Race on the 26th. As much as I want to do it, I know it would just be crazy. Oh well, there is always next year right? Good Luck RBF Merrimack Trail racers. I will be thinking about you and wishing you the best.

~ Thanks for you answers/comments on my last post. I appreciate it!

~ Hawaii pictures are on the way. I live still back in the Stone Age (with out a digital camera) so I have to get them developed in town. :)

I'm Addicted

Have you ever had sparkling "carbonated" flavored water? I am addicted to it. Nine months ago I gave up soda even though I would still occasionally crave a diet coke. Last month my sister introduced me to flavored carbonated water and I have not stopped drinking it. I love the mango/peach, kiwi/strawberry, and grape. I feel like I am drinking soda but I know that it must be better for me-it is calorie free, caffeine free, and sodium free.

Here is myquestion...is it really "healthy"? My brother told me that he heard anything carbonated is bad for your body, especially for your eyes. I did a little research but I could not find anything except this.

"A recent study in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition found bubbles in a carbonated drink actually makes you drink less. For that reason, you may want to avoid carbonated water, at least during workouts."

What do you think?

What do you usually drink?

Christian, you drink sparkling water right? Have you noticed any "side effects" on your running?
